In contemporary luxury, authenticity is measured in the details as well. A garment built on responsible supply chains loses credibility if its hang tag and fastening are not sustainable: consumers notice. The hang tag is therefore the first true calling card of the brand’s consistency.
Mion addresses this paradox with an integrated approach that combines vertical research and development (R&D) and in-house production. This allows us to control every stage of the process, from the selection of materials to the creation of the finished hang tag.
Our solutions combine premium aesthetics and environmental responsibility, offering a wide range of options: FSC®-certified papers, recycled papers, alternative materials made from textile or agro-industrial waste, paper strings, and bioplastic seals.
Each element can also be integrated with smart technologies: variable QR codes, NFC tags, and RFID tags that enable product traceability and transparent communication of the brand’s production choices.
The credibility of a hang tag starts with its foundation: the paper.
Mion uses FSC®- or PEFC®-certified papers and substrates made from high-quality pre- and post-consumer recycled cellulose. Impeccable surfaces, excellent print performance, and textures that enhance the product without aesthetic compromise.
And when the supply chain requires the use of virgin cellulose, it is sourced exclusively from traceable and certified origins, in full compliance with environmental standards. A concrete guarantee for purchasing departments and CSR managers who must ensure transparency and compliance for their brand.
Today, recycled papers are no longer synonymous with lower quality: next-generation refining processes and coatings make it possible to achieve premium finishes and color stability fully comparable to virgin substrates. A responsible choice that conveys value and respect for the environment from the very first touch.

In recent years, research has led to the development of papers made from non-wood fibers or recovered fibers, a solution that reduces the demand for virgin cellulose and adds narrative value to the hang tag.
Today, there are several ways to make paper substrates more sustainable: from papers made from agricultural waste, which give value to residues from the agri-food supply chain, to papers derived from regenerated textile fibers, created through the recovery of materials such as cotton or wool. These are solutions that combine aesthetics, innovation, and environmental responsibility.
Leaves, peels, or agricultural production residues are transformed into papers with a natural and organic look, with unique textures and a lower CO₂ footprint than virgin cellulose.
Fibers recovered from the textile sector can be transformed into a refined pulp, ideal for the production of premium papers. The result is a material with distinctive tactile qualities, carrying with it the story of the garment from which it originates.
Mion integrates these solutions into tailor-made projects, evaluating every variable: from the substrate to the grammage, through to the finishes and print performance. Our Prints division supports the brand in selecting the most suitable material, to create a hang tag that combines quality, aesthetics, and sustainability in a coherent and credible way.
Often, the sustainability of packaging is decided in the details: those secondary components, such as strings and seals, which are chosen last but can compromise the quality of the project. For Mion, instead, the hang tag is an object with a coherent design, where every element finds its balance and contributes to expressing the brand’s value and its environmental commitment.
Strings are a small but important sign of attention to detail. Today, several solutions are available to replace traditional polyester while maintaining both aesthetics and functionality:
Mion designs strings coordinated with the hang tag’s design, carefully defining fastenings, finishes, and colors to achieve a coherent, elegant, and high-performance result.

Mion produces security seals and micro-seals in bioplastic: a concrete and more sustainable alternative to traditional virgin or recycled plastic. Our bioplastic is certified according to the European standard EN 13432, which means it can biodegrade in industrial composting facilities, significantly reducing environmental impact.
A sustainable hang tag is an excellent starting point, but today it is not enough. To be truly credible, it must also tell its own story: from the material it is made of to the production process.
For this reason, Mion integrates digital technologies such as serialized QR codes, NFC tags, and RFID tags directly into the hang tags, including on FSC®-certified or recycled substrates. In this way, the hang tag becomes a truly interactive channel: a tool that connects the product to its Digital Product Passport, environmental certifications, care and maintenance instructions, and advanced post-sales content.
A solution that increases the brand’s transparency and strengthens consumer trust, transforming a detail into a value-added experience.

With an integrated and vertical approach, Mion manages every stage of the process in-house, from design to prototyping, through to printing and packaging, ensuring total control over quality and consistency of results.
But it is not only about production: Mion supports brands with technical and creative consultancy, helping them identify the materials, finishes, and fastening solutions best suited to the brand’s identity. Every project is customized and supported to ensure uncompromising aesthetics and performance.
All of this stems from Made in Italy know-how, synonymous with traceability, certification control, and artisanal care in the finishing, both for small runs and industrial production.
